Get Lost

One step at a time, one moment at a time, get lost.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Philippians 4:8, ESV

I think there are far too many friendships and marriages falling apart because too many people are busy keeping score. Keeping up with "I can't count the number of times I have ___ for you. But what have you done for me?" Keeping up with "You always ___ and I never!" Even church congregations crumble because of feuding groups who can't agree on the format of a bulletin or if they should allow contemporary music.

Let us not forget that God brings each individual into our lives for a purpose. Some to encourage, some to love, some in which to receive love and encouragement. Whether the one you may be upset with (friend, spouse, relative, or fellow church member) is the one you were called to bless, or has been placed in your life to help you, let the anger go. Stop keeping up with the good, the bad, and the ugly or past words exchanged. And by all means, don't add to the ugly tally! The bitterness you are holding onto will be written in your life's story until you relinquish and confess it.

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil. 2 Corinthians 5:10, ESV

Audrey Hepburn simply said, "The best thing to hold onto in this life is each other." Oh, what richness in these words. What good are new dishes if keeping score means dining alone? When we push others away, we have no one to go to when in need of an ear, a shoulder, or a hug.

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Colossians 3:15, ESV

You are called. Called to be an encourager, not a destroyer. To speak words of love, not words of hate. To be a part of one body. Get lost in the moments with those around you. Enjoy one another as long as you can. Be thankful for their company and be willing to share your time and your heart with them.

If the Holy Spirit has placed someone in your thoughts, someone you have waited for them to call you, stop what you are doing now. Call them. Just let them know you are thinking of them.

With love...
